Festival of Trees and Candelight Stroll Return to Same Weekend in 2025
We’re thrilled to announce that all of this year’s Christmas festivities in North Scituate will return to the first weekend in December, thanks to a collaboration between Scituate Business Association and North Scituate Village Business Association, the sponsor of the Scituate Candelight Stroll.
“We felt it was important to bring the two events back together on the same weekend for the good of the community and to help reduce confusion,” said Justin Greenough, an SBA member from Trinity Episcopal Church who has been helping to organize the Festival of Trees for 5 years. “It also affords us the opportunity to better share resources such as publicity, sponsorships, and volunteers.”
While the events are still distinct and presented by their respective organizations, the overall weekend of December 5th thru 7th (Friday thru Sunday) will be christened, “Christmas in Scituate’s Villages.” It will feature three (3) events, each with their own day and organizer or presenter:
Scituate Candelight Stroll (Friday)
Presented by NSVBA on Friday evening. The evening will focus on holiday shopping and feature activities, events, and special sales at area businesses. The Christmas Trolley, sponsored by Navigant Credit Union, will ferry shoppers around North Scituate Village.
This year, the trolley route will extend down to Village Plaza (known colloquially as IGA Plaza) with even more participating businesses.
The indoor farmer’s market and vendor fair at St. Joseph’s Church will also be on this evening, as well as the annual Trinity Christmas Bazaar at Trinity Church.
Festival of Trees (Saturday)
Presented by SBA on Saturday afternoon and evening, the primary focus will be activities for children and families surrounding the gazebo. Fifty miniature trees, each sponsored and decorated by area businesses and nonprofits will light the village green. Santa will arrive by lighted firetruck parade and the Santa Train will make its return to give rides to children.
North Scituate Elementary school PTO will host its annual Bake Sale and craft event and there will be three food trucks on the property for those who are hungry. Rudolph and Frosty will be wandering around as well.
Across the street at the Community house, Hope Library will be offering their popular Christmas Carnival, complete with Hot Cocoa and some of Scituate’s Girl Scouts will be singing in front of the Congregational Church.
Christmas Pops Concert (Sunday)
On Sunday, the weekend will wrap-up with a concert by the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble, produced by Lt. General Reggie Centracchio and featuring local vocal talent.
This year’s concert will again recognize our first responders and will feature the induction of the 2025 Scituate Hall of Fame inductees.
Don’t Forget Hope!
In addition to the events in North Scituate, Hope Associates will be holding its annual tree lighting at the Hope Gazebo (Colvin Park) on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
